WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Senator Angus S. King, Jr. (I-Maine) announced today that he has joined the bipartisan and bicameral Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus for the 113th Congress. With over 250 members from both chambers of Congress who represent almost all 50 states, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus works to protect the interests of America’s hunters, anglers, and trappers.

“Hunting and fishing are ways of life in Maine,” said Senator King. “Not only are they important economic engines for our communities, but they are also strong connections to our heritage and our culture that are passed down from one generation to the next. I’m proud to join the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus and I look forward to representing the interests of Maine’s hunters and anglers and working to protect the natural beauty of our great state.”

According to the Congressional Sportsmen Foundation, Maine is home to 413,000 sportsmen who spend approximately $609 million annually and support more than 10,000 jobs in the state.
