The House and Senate Majorities are rushing through a tax cut bill – without negotiating with their colleagues across the aisle – that will benefit well-off Americans and be partly paid for through cuts to MaineCare and CoverME.

In fact, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that 16 million Americans will be kicked off their healthcare plans resulting in tens of thousands of Maine people losing coverage.

But because the bill cuts funding to MaineCare, we all will lose: hospitals may close, and older Maine people may lose access to their home and community-based services. For the 50,000 Mainers receiving coverage through CoverME, annual premiums could rise $2,160 on average.

Senator King has vigorously opposed this bill and voted twice this year in opposition to the related budget resolutions. As the Senate looks to consider the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, he is looking to communicate the on-the-ground impact to Maine people – and he would like to hear from YOU about how this bill would affect you, your family, and your communities.

  • Is MaineCare your primary health insurer or do you receive coverage through CoverME, and are you concerned about maintaining access to your current healthcare team, services, or resources due to the One Big Beautiful Bill policies and cuts to MaineCare and CoverME?
  • Are you a paid or unpaid caregiver for someone who relies on MaineCare, and concerned for how cuts may affect your ability to care for them?
  • Are you a healthcare provider or someone who works in healthcare, and concerned about how cuts to MaineCare and the CoverMe exchange will impact your patients or your work?
