Senators Collins, King Announce Nearly $4 Million for Portland, Bangor Airports

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins, Chairman of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, and Senator Angus King, announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a total of $3,930,515 to the Portland International Jetport and the Bangor International Airport.

“The Portland International Jetport and the Bangor International Airport are important pieces of our transportation infrastructure that help connect Maine to the rest of the country and the world,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement.  “These investments will help increase safety and convenience for the hundreds of thousands of passengers who use the Portland and Bangor airports each year.”

The funding will be awarded as follows:

  • Portland International Jetport will receive $2,801,215 to fund an 8,300 square yard expansion of the existing apron to accommodate increased use of the terminal aviation facilities.
  • Bangor International Airport will receive $1,129,300 to fund the acquisition and installation of one new passenger loading bridge for the domestic terminal building.
