Senators Collins, King Announce More Than $100,000 for Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport Improvements

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded two federal grants totaling $105,000 to the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport.

The first grant awards $50,000 to fund a wildlife hazard assessment in order to identify wildlife species in the area and assess their numbers, locations, and local movement.  The second grant provides $55,000 for the necessary reconstruction of the airport’s degraded taxiway.

“Maine’s regional airports provide an important gateway into the state and help to spur the local economy,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “This funding will help the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport enhance its safe and efficient operation.”
