Senators Collins, King Announce More than $1 Million for Maine Health Centers for COVID-19 Response

The funding was awarded through the Phase 1 coronavirus response package that Senators Collins and King voted for earlier this month

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced that 18 health centers throughout Maine have been awarded a total of $1,083,790 to address screening and testing needs, acquire medical supplies, and boost telehealth capacity in response to this coronavirus pandemic.

“Community health centers are the backbone of Maine’s rural health care system.  During the COVID-19 pandemic, these medical providers are needed now more than ever,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement.  “This important funding will assist health centers throughout Maine as they care for COVID-19 patients in their communities.”

This funding, awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), was provided by Phase 1 of the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, which Senators Collins and King voted for. It provides $8.3 billion in emergency funding for federal agencies to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak, including $100 million for HRSA-funded health centers.

The funding was allocated as follows:

  • Bucksport Regional Health Center has been awarded $54,511.
  • D.F.D. Russell Medical Center, Inc., in Leeds has been awarded $54,468.
  • Eastport Health Care, Inc., has been awarded $54,661.
  • Fish River Rural Health in Eagle Lake has been awarded $55,152.
  • Harrington Family Health Center has been awarded $54,718.
  • Health Access Network, Inc., in Lincoln has been awarded $60,829.
  • Healthreach Community Health Centers in Waterville has been awarded $75,644.
  • Islands Community Medical Services, Inc., in Vinalhaven has been awarded $51,702.
  • Katahdin Valley Health Center in Patten has been awarded $65,241.
  • Maine Mobile Health Program, Inc., in Augusta has been awarded $53,809.
  • Penobscot Community Health Center in Bangor has been awarded $104,217
  • Pines Health Services in Caribou has been awarded $60,705.
  • Portland Community Health Center has been awarded $62,574.
  • Regional Medical Center in Lubec has been awarded $53,435.
  • Sacopee Valley Health Center in Parsonsfield has been awarded $56,681.
  • Saint Croix Regional Family Health Center in Princeton has been awarded $53,133.
  • Sebasticook Family Doctors in Newport has been awarded $55,522.
  • York County Community Action Corporation in Sanford has been awarded $56,788.
