WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins, Chairman of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, and Angus King announced today that the Economic Development Administration (EDA) will award the Maine Department of Transportation $992,687 in funding to support the construction of the Interstate 95 Trafton Road Interchange in Waterville.
This funding will also support the realignment of an adjacent roadway to provide unobstructed access to existing industrial facilities in Waterville.
“This important investment will strengthen our infrastructure in Waterville, facilitating economic development across our state,” the Senators said in a joint statement. “Investments in infrastructure are investments in improved public safety and economic prosperity, the lifeblood of our communities.”
According to the EDA, during construction and upon completion of this project, an estimated 325 jobs could be created.
