King Marks Fourth of July by Marching in Bath Independence Day Parade

BATH, ME – Today, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) marched alongside Maine people during the Independence Day Parade of the 47th annual Bath Heritage Days Festival. The parade is part of a 5-day annual festival from Wednesday, July 3rd to Sunday July 7th.

“Nearly 250 years ago, our Founding Fathers asserted the self-evident truths that started the bold American experiment and have guided our nation for generations – serving as a beacon of hope and liberty to countries around the world,” said Senator King. “Nearly a quarter of a millennium later, we mark the Fourth of July with celebration, reflection, and gratitude – celebrating all that we have achieved, reflecting on how far we must still go to fully live up to these ideals, and expressing our gratitude for every single man and woman who has honorably worn our country’s uniform in defense of our people and our values. Today’s parade in Bath was filled with each of these hallmarks of Independence Day, and it was a joy to mark this important moment in our nation’s history with so many Maine people.”
