Collins, King Announce $150,000 Federal Grant Awarded to University of Maine

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) have awarded a $150,000 research grant to the University of Maine.

The award will fund the University of Maine’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative in developing a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based novel method to better understand the mechanism of internalization of foodborne pathogen.

In a joint statement Senators Collins and King said, “Federal funding is crucial to supporting our university system and this announcement is great news for the University of Maine. Their continued exemplary research and the advancements these programs produce are an important contribution to the Maine economy.”
