Belmont Veteran Awarded Service Medal by King Staff

AUGUSTA, ME – Today, a Constituent Service Representative for U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) presented Mr. James Roberts, a U.S. Navy veteran and resident of Belmont, Maine, with a medal for his service in the Armed Forces. Mr. Roberts had earned, but never received, the National Defense Service Medal for his service during the period designated as the Persian Gulf War era. Senator King’s staff worked with the U.S. Navy to secure it for him.

Mr. Roberts, who is originally from Belfast and now lives in Belmont, served in the Navy from 1983-1990. He contacted Senator King’s office recently to inquire about a potential recognition to which he might be entitled, and, after working with the U.S. Navy, Senator King’s staff helped secure for him the National Defense Service Medal.
